Colton Cox brings his signature, soulful indie rock sound to the stage at Greenwood Social Hall on April 26th, 2024, performing a combined set of new music and his old standards, like “Stuck” and “Rubber Band Girl.” Joining him are the hip-hop and psychedelia infused “mushroom pop” of New Orleans-based duo VIVIAN, and the dark, synth laden sounds of up and coming KC artist Pink Promise, who will be making his debut at Greenwood.
Colton Cox has been performing his unique brand of indie rock and soul music live in Kansas and Missouri since 2021, with the release of his debut EP Internal Combustion, and his subsequent promotional tour with fellow KC artist, Calvin Arsenia. The lead single for the EP, “Stuck”, was premiered on “The Tasty Brew Music Radio Show” with Diana Griffin Ennis on KKFI 90.1 FM. Currently in the process of writing and recording a currently untitled full length album, Cox is bringing an arsenal of new music to Greenwood Social Hall. These new songs promise to bring some exciting innovations to Cox’s style, expanding on the mid-00’s influenced rock sound of his EP that’s been compared to artists such as Queens of the Stone Age, Modest Mouse, and The Black Keys.
VIVIAN is the mystical, mind melting brainchild of decorated multi-instrumentalists Timo Massa and Alana Rolfe. Formed originally in Fort Collins, CO, 2020 saw the release of the pair’s debut full length album, “The Warped Glimmer”, which charted #89 on College Radio Charts. The duo relocated to New Orleans in 2021, and have since accomplished a laundry list of musical deeds, including writing the score for a short film (“Bird’s Eye View” for Jackson Hole Mountain Resort), and obtaining two features on NPR’s Live Sessions. Their most recent release is their cover of Mazzy Star’s classic, “Fade Into You”, a dance floor ready reinterpretation of the original 90s alternative track.
Kansas City based electronic music artist Jacob Butler will be performing for the first time under his new moniker, Pink Promise. Butler began his musical journey by posting videos of himself performing pieces of famous songs on his synths on Youtube and other social media platforms. A fun, short edit of him playing the opening riff of “The Adults Are Talking” by 2000’s indie darlings The Strokes suddenly took off on Youtube, with the most recent view count hovering around 230k. Butler has since begun dabbling in live performances, performing around the KC metro area at popular local venues like The Rino and miniBar.
These 3 innovative artists promise to bring a night of beautiful, emotionally charged music to Greenwood Social Hall. Don't miss out!
